Hasbro selling 3D printed fan made ponies, Superfanart.com

“We have been investigating 3-D printing for quite a while, as have many people,” said John Frascotti, chief marketing officer at Hasbro. “What 3-D printing truly empowers is the creation of artwork that maybe wouldn’t make sense for mass production, but it makes sense for a unique item.”

What does this mean to me and you?  Well Hasbro is getting fanmade designs (you can apparently submit stuff if your a 3D modeler) and printing them.  Which means that effectively we'll be able to get way better quality figures, both in more show accurate and overall design(although now that I look at some of the figures more closely they look kind of coarse and static-y.  The prices vary wildly, with most figures being in the $30 to $100 price range.

Go over here if'n your interested, Superfanart.com. Supposedly they're looking to keep expanding they're lineup, so hopefully this could turn into something really cool.
